HE'S ROYAL...AND CONTAGIOUS:

Newark, NJ (Ms. RAINE INC.):
With a decade long tradition of bringing the best of the Caribbean to the Garden State, the New Jersey International Reggae Fest has captured Roots Reggae's fearless but humble shining soldier to celebrate their 10th Anniversary on August 15th. Rastafarian singer and songwriter Tarrus Riley's conscious and inspiring messages have helped reenergize Roots Reggae and will invigorate the festival's 10th Anniversary staging at the Edison Park Complex, located at the Prudential Arena in Newark.

Riley first garnered worldwide attention with his 2006 album Parables, with heavy hitting singles like "Beware," "Stay With You," the anthemic "Lion Paw," and the explosive single "She's Royal."

"I target women and children with my music because slavery tampered with the woman's mind and that's why I wrote 'She's Royal,' Riley explains. "She's the head of the household so she has the power to influence the young men and women of tomorrow."

In 2007, the Jamaica Observer named Riley their artist of the year. The following year, the Reggae Academy Awards named "She's Royal" Best Reggae Song, and Most Popular Song of 2008, while Riley was named Best Solo Male Vocalist, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Riley's 2009 album Challenges drew major praise from the New York Times, which compared the young singer to iconic Reggae vocalists like Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, and Beres Hammond. Singles like "Contagious," "Good Girl Gone Bad" with Dancehall singer Konshens, and a rootsy remake of Michael Jackson's "Human Nature," helped propel Contagious to the forefront. According to the Times, Riley "possesses an expressive, instantly recognizable voice, as well as a knack for lyrics and melodies that capture the ups and downs of love and life...that is both familiar to his island audience and accessible to the world."

Born in the Bronx, NY, and raised in Jamaica, Riley delved into music at a young age. The son of Reggae singer Jimmy Riley, he started his career as a Dancehall deejay as a teenager before becoming a singer. He released his debut album Challenges in 2004. Under the tutelage of renowned saxophonist Dean Fraser, Riley has become one of the leading Roots Reggae talents.

"Tarrus Riley is always a crowd favorite and a crowd pleaser. He has the voice, the music, and the performance of a seasoned veteran, but he is still very youthful and lively," says New Jersey Reggae Fest organizer Kacy "G City" Rankine, who along with RoadblockRadio.com and Jeawin Entertainment is putting on this year's event. "Tarrus appeals to just about everyone - the younger generation, the older generation, the Dancehall crowd, the Roots Reggae crowd. Any and everyone will enjoy Tarrus' music."

On August 15th, Tarrus Riley will be sharing the NJ Reggae Fest stage with Reggae legend Marcia Griffiths, Billboard Reggae artist Gyptian, Dancehall superstar Cham, classic Reggae masters Freddie McGregor, Cocoa Tea, and Frankie Paul, Dancehall lyrical wonder Assassin, Gramps Morgan, prodigious producer/artist Stephen McGregor, pioneering female Dancehall deejay Lady G, and rising Reggae/Dancehall stars Chino, Laden, Duane Stephenson, and Romain Virgo.

The 10th Annual New Jersey International Reggae Fest will be held on Sunday, August 15th at the Edison Park Complex (located at the Prudential Arena) - 162 Mulberry Street in Newark, NJ. Featured Acts include Marcia Griffiths, Cocoa Tea, Freddie McGregor, Frankie Paul, Gyptian, Cham, Duane Stephenson, Gramps Morgan, Lady G, Stephen McGregor, Assassin, Chino, Laden, and Romain Virgo. Limited $39.99 early bird tickets are available until July 31st. General Admission is $54.99. VIP tickets and special group discounts are also available. Billboard Reggae artist wants to "Hold You" at New Jersey Reggae Fest

Newark, NJ - (Ms. RAINE INC):
With his current hit single "Hold You" dominating just about every radio chart in North America for Reggae, singing sensation Gyptian is one of the featured entertainers of the landmark 10th Anniversary New Jersey International Reggae Fest in Newark on August 15th. Joining a host of prominent names representing the past, present, and future of Reggae and Dancehall music, Gyptian is clearly leading the new school with a distinctively unique sound that is reenergizing the mainstream's love of Jamaica's drum and bass sound. Like the Billboard charting single of the same name, his latest album Hold You, due to be released by VP Records on July 20th, brings a refreshing sound that is already reviving pop audience's interest in the classical 'irie' vibe of Reggae. In May, the single "Hold You" hit the Billboard Hot 100 at #91, while charting at #33 on the Billboard R&B chart, and #6 on the Billboard Heatseekers Songs chart. By June, the song was #77 on the Hot 100, and climbed to #3 on the Heatseekers chart, while debuting on the Canadian Hot 100. Hip Hop's latest super star Nicki Minaj lent her vocals to the "Hold You" remix, which is currently in rotation on major stations throughout North America and the Caribbean. "With music, you can't just stick to one sound," says Gyptian. "You have to pick and choose to satisfy the largest fan base." "Gyptian is in high demand right now," states Kacy "G City" Rankine of the New Jersey Reggae Fest. "He is one of those young and talented artists that just has everyone excited about Reggae music again. Our patrons are very excited about him coming to Jersey this year for Reggae Fest." Lying between a baritone and a tenor, Windel 'Gyptian' Edward's distinctive vocals captivated audiences from the very beginning. Bursting on the scene in late 2004, his debut single "Serious Times" was declared Jamaica's Most Important Song of 2005, beating out Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley's mainstream hit "Welcome to Jamrock." After dropping his first album My Name is Gyptian in 2006, he achieved crossover fame with the smooth and upbeat track "Beautiful Lady," which gained airplay on popular urban stations like New York's Hot 97. His second album I Can Feel Your Pain was released in 2008. On August 15th, Gyptian will be joining Reggae legend Marcia Griffiths, best known for her pop classic "Electric Boogie" which spawned the electric slide dance craze, as well as for being one of Bob Marley's iconic I-Threes background vocalists; Dancehall superstar Cham, who scored two mainstream hits with "Ghetto Story," and "Vitamin S;" classic Reggae masters Freddie McGregor, Cocoa Tea, and Jamaica's 'Stevie Wonder' Frankie Paul; Roots Reggae's shining soldier Tarrus Riley; Dancehall lyrical wonder Assassin; Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage fame; prodigious producer/artist Stephen McGregor; pioneering female Dancehall deejay Lady G; and rising Reggae/Dancehall stars Chino, Laden, Duane Stephenson, and Romain Virgo. "For our 10th anniversary, we wanted to make sure there was something for everyone," states G City, who along with Jeawin Entertainment, and Roadblockradio.com is producing the event. "Reggae and Dancehall lovers of all generations will enjoy this lively mix of vintage and contemporary music." The 10th Annual New Jersey International Reggae Fest will be held on Sunday, August 15th at the Edison Park Complex (located at the Prudential Arena) - 162 Mulberry Street in Newark, NJ. Featured Acts include Marcia Griffiths, Cocoa Tea, Freddie McGregor, Frankie Paul, Gyptian, Cham, Duane Stephenson, Gramps Morgan, Lady G, Stephen McGregor, Assassin, Chino, Laden, and Romain Virgo. Meet KC Jockey

KC Jockey is an artist who is hard to define. His style is a little bit 'Kingston' with a side of 'Brooklyn.' He's part 'R&B' with a dash of 'dance hall reggae.' To call him simply a musician does not even begin to scratch the surface of his career in the entertainment industry. Jockey's recent appearances in major motion picture films, his modeling deals with a worldwide clothing line, his stint as official spokesperson for a popular energy drink, not to mention owning and operating his own record label, Jockey is a one man empire with a skill set unrivaled by anyone in the business.
KC Jockey was born in Kingston, Jamaica but moved to Brooklyn, NY as a young child. The rising star quickly developed a passion for all things New York-both the good and the bad. The "bad" had him in the streets hustling to get all the luxuries he saw others around him enjoying. The "good" had him embracing his God-given musical abilities, which he finally realized could provide him with the same lavish lifestyle as the hustling he saw going on around him. After his mother passed from a tragic accident in 1997, Jockey dedicated himself to the studio, often working through the night to perfect his craft. The hard work paid off in 2000 when Jockey launched his own record label, Sweet Sadie's Productions, appropriately named in honor of his mother.
Flash forward to 2010 and KC Jockey is enjoying success not only in the States and in his home country of Jamaica, but all over the world. Jockey's wide musical appeal has landed his past singles on the charts in the States, the UK, France, Jamaica, and beyond. His ever-changing style has even allowed him the rare opportunity to spread music across the charts in multiple genres including Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, and Latin music. Some of Jockey's most successful singles have included "Runway Bounce", "Talk of the Town", and "Rub Your Body."
Jockey has received favorable attention for not only for his hit singles, but also for the breathtaking music videos that accompany them. The video for his single "Diggy Diggy", which was filmed partly in his hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, received considerable plays on BET's show "Uncut". Jockey has also been featured on BET.com for his "Rub Your Body" music video and on Billboard.com for the video of the single "Shake".
KC Jockey's natural charisma gives him the ability to tell a story through something as short as a music video; as you can imagine, it wasn't long before feature-length film producers took notice of his on-screen talent. Jockey has made cameo appearances in the blockbuster hits "I Am Legend" with Will Smith and "American Gangster" with Denzel Washington. He has also played significant roles in many other independent films like "What Goes Around."
Jockey's infectious smile has landed him jobs as the face of many of the hottest new products on the market. He is currently one of the faces for the fresh new clothing line 4.U.2.N.V (who have featured him on their New York City billboards) and an official spokesperson for the popular energy drink Xtamina.
Despite all of these time-consuming commitments, Jockey continues to give back to the communities that have given him so much. His charitable efforts include working with schools to guide young students down the right path in Atlanta, Georgia, volunteering his time and efforts to a school for the blind in Jamaica, as well as contributing to Boys & Girls clubs in the States, an HIV Hospice organization, and school building efforts in Jamaica.
When you look at KC Jockey's track record of success there is no doubt that he is quickly on his way to becoming a household name for not only his music but his vast array of talents. His newest singles, "When U Look At Me" and "Single 4 One Night" are already creating a buzz in the ears of music industry insiders and will no doubt be flying up the charts here and abroad, like so many other songs of Jockeys have done in the past.
One thing is certain about KC Jockey - he is a one of a kind artist the likes of whom the music industry has never seen, and he is destined to be on top of the entertainment world now and for years to come!
